Freely Speaking Audio Devotion
Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation. Today’s devotion was written by Kelsey Wickenhauser.
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9 ESV).
Dr Miles Munroe, Bahamian evangelist, ordained minister, speaker, and author, once said, “The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but life without a purpose.” What a powerful reminder that our days are numbered, yet God has created us to do something only we can do.
Stepping into a life of purpose, however, is not always painless. Leaving our comfort zone requires faith and believing in those beginning seeds of vision that burn within our hearts but bear no fruit yet. Four years ago, I had a dream to start a business and help women get healthy. It was crazy to the world. I had a “good job”, with “good hours”, and was setting myself up well for retirement.
But the comfort of the world’s way became suffocating, and I felt like I could do nothing less than follow God's call on my life. So, I quit my job and dove head-first into the unknown of entrepreneurship. Leaving comfort, however, has been the most fulfilling and wild Holy Spirit adventure I’ve ever had.
Our “yes” to chase the calling and passions that God has placed in our hearts supersedes any man-made system, worldly comfort, or pursuit that we conjure up on our own. We can hold onto the truth in Joshua that if God takes us on an adventure for our mission and His glory here on earth, He will be with us and strengthen us. Chasing the call on our lives is not easy, but there is no greater gift than living out your purpose here on earth.
When have you had to leave your comfort zone and trust God in order to answer His call on your life?
