Freely Speaking Audio Devotion

Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.

Our scripture is from Mark 12:30 (NIV): “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”

Have you ever found yourself pondering your significance to God? Amid life's unpredictable journey, do you question His awareness of your every moment? You send your prayers into the unknown, hoping for a response. But often, all you encounter is a deafening silence.

God, can you see me? Can you hear me? Do you even know who I am?

I recently experienced God’s goodness toward me, proving that He sees, hears, and knows exactly who I am and what I need.

The dishwasher was hurriedly unpacked that morning. I didn’t have to be in the room to hear something tumble to the floor and shatter. Instantly, I knew my favorite mug was broken. Disappointment rumbled in my soul as I reached the kitchen. I was right. The mug, given to me by a close friend over twenty years ago, was beyond repair.

Aggravation rumbled beneath the surface and laced the words tumbling from my mouth. At that moment, the Holy Spirit spoke to my soul, reminding me that a relationship was more important than that mug. I graciously embraced the one before me, not wanting to hold a grudge.

Later that day, the postman left a parcel at the door. The international address label and customs information caught my eye as I leaned down to pick it up. On the label was a description of the box’s contents—a cup! I gasped, quickly pulling at the tape to reveal what was inside. Imagine my surprise to find a beautiful cup hand-painted by someone I have never met who is part of this OhSoFree community. Overwhelmed, I could not believe that this unique gift had traveled over oceans from America to Australia, arriving on the day I needed it the most. Only God could have orchestrated that.

Despite losing my special mug that day, I received a gift of another kind: a reminder of God’s goodness and love in the creative and unexpected way He sees, hears, and knows all about us.

In Matthew 6:8, in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus reminded the crowd, "…your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”

That day, God showed me this truth in action. Nothing goes unnoticed. God is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. These three attributes describe Him as all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-present. Together, these characteristics are inseparable and epitomize God's lordship over every detail of life, even the broken mug on my floor. He cares about what matters to us, a sure sign of His unwavering and unconditional love.

It takes much faith to believe in something you cannot see. Having faith is having trust. Over 40-plus years of following Jesus, I have learned to trust Him with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. Even though I cannot see Him face to face, He has taken care of me in unimaginable ways. To the world, our trust may seem foolish; however, God is always faithful and good, and He will also be good to you.
