“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him” (Philippians 2:13 NLT).
Did you know that as believers, we are called to live according to the attributes of Christ? The most important of these attributes is love. When we walk in the Spirit, we begin to be filled with His love and acquire His qualities. We can only love others because He works in us through the Holy Spirit, giving us the determination and passion to do His will.
God's love for us is boundless, and it is evident in the gift of His son, Jesus, who exemplifies how we should conduct ourselves as believers. In Ephesians, Paul urges us, as children of God, to emulate Christ's behavior. We should strive to act like Christ in our interactions with others so that they can see the presence of the Holy Spirit within us.
It is my desire for the Lord to see me as his faithful follower. I am committed to never bringing dishonor to Christ's name by proclaiming to be a believer yet failing to live by His teachings. Unfortunately, there are stories of individuals who have been deeply hurt by people who claim to be believers but do not exhibit Christ-like traits.
When we live according to God's will and take on Christ's attributes, we can have the life God desires. A life of love, contentment, and unity with like-minded believers. This brings us joy and encourages us to share the word of God and our belief in Jesus Christ.
I want to encourage all of us to write down the fruits of the spirit: love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. This will serve as a reminder of the kind of love we are trying to embody. What are some ways you can work toward exhibiting these "fruits?"
