Freely Speaking Audio Devotions

Mar 4, 2025    Liz'a Biswell

Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.

Today’s devotion was written by Liz’a Biswell.

“ Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus

did” (1 John 2:6 NLT).

The Bible tells us that God’s love is agape love. Agape love is

defined as unmotivated, selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional.

This love transforms people.

Jesus repeatedly tells us how important love is in many different ways. Without it, we can not accomplish what God calls us to do. The love of Jesus reflected in those around me called me to know Him.

They were steadfast in their commitment to love me through all the pushback, stubbornness, and harshness. They walked with me in love and kindness, allowing The Holy Spirit to expose my sins and mistakes. They gave me time to repent and build character.

1 John 2:6 tells us that those who say they live in God should live

as Jesus did. Through our acts of mercy and grace, the

love of Jesus is poured out through us. I would still be lost without

the patient love I was shown.

Our most important ministry is in our daily lives: how we treat

people, our language, our decisions, and even our

attitudes. Are we treating those who hurt us with love like Jesus

did?

We should reflect Christ to everyone. We don’t deserve the love, grace, and mercy He gives, but He faithfully forgives and loves us anyway.

We must forgive to be forgiven. It is one of the most challenging forms of love because forgiveness requires sacrifice. What I feel is deserved is laid down to give the mercy and love Jesus has shown me to those around me, without benefit to me. It is not easy.

Biblical love and forgiveness are not emotions; they are choices and commitments. Can we love sinners enough to give them time to repent? We need our hearts and minds to change. Take time to pray, asking God to restore our minds in these areas.
