Freely Speaking Audio Devotion

Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.

Today’s devotion was written by Debbie Hamilton.

Our scripture for today is found in Mark 16:15 (NLT), “And then he told them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.’”

Busy can have such a negative implication when we express ourselves to others. For example, saying, "I'm too busy today" when invited out by someone. Maybe you've even expressed exhaustion when life is hectic and declared, " I'm just too busy all the time!"

I suppose both kinds of disdainment can be true, but what about being busy in a good light?

In Mark 16, Jesus gives His disciples a huge task before His ascension. He says to “go” to the world and preach the Good News! It's quite a task, I'd say, and a mission involving a lot of busyness.

First, the disciples had to wait for the Holy Spirit. Sometimes, when I find myself caught up in planning for my "busyness," it's good to wait for a bit. I should start my day with the Word, prayer, and a calm spirit rather than rush full-on into my day.

Isn't it refreshing to know that busyness is not always a bad thing? We can actually be busy with our Father's work in mind. The task is not to let "busyness" be a distraction or a waste of time.

Consider whether you allow busyness to take you off course. Then, find ways to make busyness part of God’s fruitful plan.
