Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.

Today, Karen Wardle encourages us to embrace our mission with a renewed mind.

Our scripture is from Mark 12:30 (NIV): “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”

Today’s focus scripture is found in Acts 13:47 (NIV):

“For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have made you a light for the world that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”

In Acts 13:47, Paul and Barnabas receive a profound calling from the Lord. They are tasked with being a light to the Gentiles, spreading salvation to the farthest corners of the earth. This verse speaks to their specific mission and illuminates a timeless truth for every believer: God has a unique purpose for each of us.

As we delve into our journey of faith, it's essential to understand that our mission is intimately connected to the state of our mind. Our thoughts, beliefs, and perceptions shape how we perceive our calling and navigate the path set before us.

The mind is a battlefield where doubts, fears, and distractions often wage war against our divine purpose. Negative thoughts can sow seeds of doubt, leading us to question our abilities or the validity of our calling. However, God calls us to renew our minds daily, aligning our thoughts with His truth and promises. Renewing our minds involves immersing ourselves in God's Word, allowing its transformative power to shape our perspectives and guide our actions. As we meditate on Scripture and spend time in prayer, God reshapes our thinking, aligning it with His will and purposes.

When we embrace our mission with a renewed mind, we see ourselves as God sees us: chosen, equipped, and empowered for His work. Instead of focusing on our limitations, we fix our eyes on the One who called us, trusting in His strength to accomplish what He has set before us. Moreover, a renewed mind enables us to see beyond the surface and perceive the deeper significance of our mission. Like Paul and Barnabas, we recognize that our calling extends beyond our immediate surroundings to reach people from every nation, tribe, and tongue.

Our mission becomes a beacon of hope in a world shrouded in darkness. It is a proclamation of God's love and grace, drawing others into the light of His salvation. With a renewed mind, we approach our calling with boldness and confidence, knowing that God goes before us, preparing the hearts of those we are called to reach. However, embracing our mission with a renewed mind does not exempt us from challenges or setbacks. There will be moments of uncertainty, times when we falter, and obstacles that seem insurmountable. Yet, in those moments, we cling to the promise of God's presence and surrender our minds to God's transforming power. He equips us to fulfill our mission with unwavering faith and perseverance. With each step we take, guided by His Spirit, we shine brightly as lights in a dark world, fulfilling the purpose for which we were created.

Let us, therefore, embrace our mission with a renewed mind, knowing that God is faithful to complete the work He has begun in us. May our thoughts be continually transformed by His truth, and may we walk confidently in the calling He entrusted us.

Will you be the lens through which God’s light shines in this dark world? How have you embraced your mission with a renewed mind?
