Freely Speaking Audio Devotion

Jul 10, 2024    Sarah Goff

Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.

Today’s devotional is written by Sarah Goff.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4: 6-7 NIV).

Amidst a world filled with sin and uncertainty, it's easy to be consumed by negativity, stress, and worry. Yet, we must remember that our true freedom lies in Christ Jesus. When life's burdens weigh us down, let us follow God's instruction to give them to Him and place them at the foot of the Cross.

During a conversation with a close family member, we both had a profound realization. The weight of burdens beyond our control, the overwhelming nature of global events, and personal challenges had drained us. We understood that dwelling on these emotions would only steal our peace of mind. But we also realized that the remedy was within our reach. We could find relief by surrendering these burdens to our heavenly father through the powerful act of prayer. God would alleviate our burdens, as true freedom can only be found in our creator.

It is essential to trust in His word and believe that He hears our prayers. God wants us to cast our cares on Him because He knows carrying our burdens will wear us out. We cannot do this life without Him. Instead, we can give our troubles to Him through prayer and petition, remembering that nothing is impossible with God. We must refuse to be intimidated by daunting circumstances while Praising Him for the help of His presence.

How many times have you found yourself consumed with worry over a situation that was beyond your control? Your mind was filled with thoughts of what might happen and how to make things right, even though deep down, you knew that only God could change the situation if He wanted to. I've been there also. Let's share something we want to release to God so that our minds are free from worry and our hearts are open to His peace.
