Freely Speaking Audio Devotion

Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.

Today’s devotion was written by Sarah Goff.\

Our scripture reading is from James 1:2 NIV.

“Consider it pure, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything” (James 1:2 NIV).

Life is a journey that is full of ups and downs. There are moments when everything seems joyful, but there are also moments when we feel lost and sad. Even though it is easy to have faith during good times, it can be difficult to keep our faith strong when we face challenges. Do you find it difficult to remain joyful in uncertain times?

Lately, my joy has been replaced with worry due to a health scare with my husband. During this challenging situation, I realize that despite praying for his recovery, I struggle to have complete trust in God. I allow negative thoughts to creep into my mind, which goes against the faith I am trying to achieve.

God understands that life is not always filled with joy and that we will inevitably face difficult times. Our faith is tested in these moments, but we must persevere and keep moving forward.

We should desire to have unwavering faith in the Lord in all situations and trust that He is in control, regardless of the outcome. We must strive to reflect Christ in all circumstances.

Our loving Father is always with us, guiding, molding, and perfecting us so we lack nothing. Even during the most challenging times, we can trust He will bring us back to His perfect joy.

What has God taught you during trials that have helped you mature in your faith?
