Freely Speaking Audio Devotion
Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.
Today, Sharon Gomez shares about miracles as evidence of the seen and unseen.
“And God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose” (Hebrews 2:4 NLT).
The pages of the gospels are filled with miracles that Jesus performed. It was a strategy Jesus used to get people's attention in hopes they would believe He was the long-awaited Messiah.
This leads me to ask, "What does a miracle look like today?" Have I seen any? I'm sure I've missed them, and does that make me less faithful?
Some present-day believers have experienced beautiful miracles in their lives. Personal testimonies help spread the promise that God knows us and is with us. But for some of us, the signs and wonders aren't as evident now as they were during Jesus's time. God was recruiting kingdom followers and sent Jesus to gather, teach, and save. We are on the other side of grace, yet I still pray for "obvious" signs and wonders to guide me.
The context of today's verse is that miracles confirm Jesus's message to first-century believers. Jesus spoke of the kingdom of heaven and performed physical signs to inspire people to believe He was the way. It goes on to say these miracles are gifts of the Holy Spirit presented upon His divine timing. The Trinity is at work through miracles.
We've all seen "big" miracles by watching implausible stories of survival on the news, but the everyday miracle is that God is all around us, revealing His power in His time. I think miracles are given to us through nature, the spirit of kindness, and the presence of peace when circumstances don't go our way. Anyone who believes can be a witness to this.
Miracles are evidence of God's presence through the seen and unseen. I try not to miss it, but when I do, I'm grateful for His grace because my earthly perspective clouds my view of the eternal.
Whether you have experienced personal miracles or strive to see His works in our everyday world, take a moment to thank God for His revelation.
