Freely Speaking Audio Devotion

Apr 16, 2025    Marge Webb

Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.

Today’s devotion was written by Marge Webb.

“Call up on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you” (Psalm 50:15 NIV).

When the phone rings at 3 a.m., it is rarely good news. On September 29, 2007, such a call came through to our bedroom phone. All my husband heard was “baby” and “Mercy Hospital”.

My mind was swirling with thoughts as we sped across town. Our first grandchild wasn’t due until December 11. Fear was creeping into my mind. I couldn’t even think of a Bible verse at that moment, and the only prayer that came out of my spirit was: “Oh God, help”.

Isn’t that Psalm 50:15 in a nutshell? Call on me in the day of trouble, and I will deliver you.

When we arrived at the E.R., our daughter, Jennifer, was in critical condition, and the doctor seemed extremely worried. He told us if we were praying people, we had better pray. We did.

It was imperative to deliver the baby so Jennifer would not die from HELLP syndrome. A few minutes later, “Miracle Molly” was born.

She was about the size of a two-pound bag of powdered sugar and could fit into her daddy’s hand. Unlike most preemies, Molly had healthy lungs and very few complications. She truly was a miracle.

When we think of miracles, we think of Jesus walking the earth, healing the blind, raising the dead, and praying over a boy’s lunch to feed 5,000. But miracles are all around us.

Drug addicts and alcoholics are delivered from years of bondage to substances. People

survive automobile accidents in which the car is crushed beyond recognition. Women

live decades with breast cancer that has metastasized to numerous areas. And babies born way too early survive.

All are miracles, even the ones that happen in our daily lives that we don’t acknowledge as miracles.

Have you had a miracle lately? Are you a miracle? Be sure to thank God for all the miracles he has bestowed on you, whether large or small. Thank you, Lord, for “Miracle

Molly.”
