Freely Speaking Audio Devotion
Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.
Today’s devotion is written by Karen Wardle.
Our verse for today is found in 1 Samuel 12:24 (ESV). “Only fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things He has done for you.”
As women of faith, we often seek the miraculous in ways that align with our hopes and expectations. We pray for healing, provision, or protection, imagining how God might answer. Yet, His ways are higher than ours, and His miracles do not always look the way we anticipate.
When I was young, I found myself trapped in a destructive relationship. I prayed fervently for months, unsure of how to escape. Then, in a way I never expected—or would have wished for—the young man died suddenly of unknown causes. It was shocking and extreme, yet I did not doubt that God was in control. He knew what was best for all involved. I couldn’t see a way out, but He provided one.
Though not the miracle I envisioned, it was a miracle nonetheless. It taught me to trust that when we place our troubles in God’s hands, He will take care of us in ways beyond our comprehension. Sometimes, deliverance comes gently; other times, it comes in ways that shake us to our core. But through it all, God remains sovereign, wise, and loving.
Samuel’s words remind us to consider the great things God has done. When we reflect on our lives, we can see His hand at work in unexpected ways. His miracles are not always the ones we pray for, but they are always the ones we need.
Sisters, if you are facing an impossible situation, remember that God is still in the business of miracles. Trust Him. Surrender your fears, your pain, and your hopes to Him. Serve Him faithfully, knowing that He is always working for your good. His miracles may not make sense in the moment, but they are always perfect in His plan.
Prayer: Lord, help me to trust You in all things. Open my eyes to see Your miracles, even when they don’t look the way I expect. I surrender my struggles to You, knowing You are faithful. Amen.
