Freely Speaking Audio Devotion

Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.

Today’s devotion was written by Marge Webb.

“For His anger endureth but a moment; in His favor is life: Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning” (Psalm 30:5 KJV).

I sat on the sofa in the living room. It was eerily dark and quiet, with only a faint glow from the night light in the hallway. The children had been fast asleep for hours. It was well after midnight and Jeff was still not home. I had no clue where he was, but my heart was so sad.

I suddenly felt the urge to turn on the TV. My brain thought, what would I watch at this time of night? Infomercials? No thanks. A televangelist? I’d rather watch an infomercial. I had watched so many preachers on TV, read so many Christian self-help books, read the Bible, and listened to Christian radio, trying to find an answer to my fragmented marriage. I didn’t care to see anything else.

But that still, small voice kept nagging, so I turned on TBN, and there was a sweet older man named E.V. Hill. He said a few words, then pointed at the TV and said, “I have a message for you tonight. God sees your pain and He cares about you. Weeping may endure for the night, but joy cometh in the morning.”

I wept and prayed then went to bed in peace that night. I fully expected some miracle would take place that weekend. It didn’t. It was about three years later that things started changing, but I knew God had promised joy, no matter what.

How about you? Are you struggling? Are you weary from praying for your miracle? God sees you. He knows your struggle and He cares for you. He has joy for you no matter what the circumstances. Trust Him.
