Freely Speaking with Angela

In Isaiah 53, the beautiful prophecy brought hope to Israel seven hundred years before Messiah would come as a babe in a manger. These words were fulfilled over 2,000 years ago through the life, death, and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and bring hope to us today.

“Surely he took our pain and bore our suffering…he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”  Isaiah 53:4-5 (ESV)

This scripture wrecks me. It humbles and fills me with awe to know that the pain, piercing, and crushing Jesus suffered was mine. He willingly took my punishment and gave me peace and healing instead.

Why? What motivated the King of Kings to take my place?

The answer is plain to see when I read about Jesus’ life and ministry. It was the same desire that caused him to stop and heal a blind man, to reach out and touch a leper, to bring deliverance to a man tormented by demons, to teach the multitude and feed them, to raise the dead son of a weeping mother, and offer mercy to a thief on the cross.

For each one, Jesus was “moved with compassion.”  Compassion means “to suffer with.”  Jesus felt each person’s pain, torment, sickness, and grief, but he didn’t stop there.

Genuine compassion went much deeper than just feeling sympathetic for those who were suffering. Genuine compassion compelled Him to “do” something to relieve their suffering. Their heartache became his heartache; the same is true for you and me today.

Jesus felt my pain, but he didn’t stop there. He was moved with compassion for you and me, too, dear sister.

He is our Compassionate Christ. May you know your heartache has become his heartache. And just like Isaiah prophesied, Jesus will give you hope, healing, and peace.

May you know the blessing of his compassion this Christmas!

Thank you Angela💜💜What a comforting message and, to be honest, compassion is something we need to remember and practice ourselves. I thank God for the compassion if Christ Jesus.

When you listed the individuals that Jesus healed, I began to think of women in our group that need His touch! It's wonderful to know that Jesus, the King of Kings, offers the same for us today! Thank you Angela for sharing this!
