Because the movie Braveheart is a favorite of both my husband and son, I have walked through the living room while they watch it and seen bits and pieces time after time. The portion that stands out is when William Wallace, played by Mel Gibson, lifts his fist and loudly proclaims, “Freeee-----duuu----mmm!” I bet spell check will love that.
There is a verse in the Bible that says, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made you free and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage” (Galatians 5:1 KJV).
This means we have freedom in the redemption that Christ provided for us on the cross. It is unlike the Sir William kind of freedom depicted in the movie as the Scots grab swords fighting for independence from King Edward I of England. Christ paid for our freedom with His own blood.
Paul goes on to say in Galatians, don’t use that freedom as an excuse to keep sinning. When you attempt to live by your own religious rules and standards, you are cut off from the grace and freedom Jesus wants you to enjoy.
The only requirement from you is to stand fast! Don’t let the devil fire his darts at you. Put on your daily armor and stand to fight like a Christian soldier. Instead of swords made of steel, use the sword of the spirit Christ has equipped you with, and know that Jesus has conquered all your fears and struggles.
We just celebrated Memorial Day to honor those who sacrificed their lives in war and Independence Day to commemorate the U.S. declaration of independence from Great Britain. Ladies, let’s take time today to give thanks for the freedom sealed by the blood of war heroes and our spiritual freedom sealed by the blood of Jesus.

Well said Marge! Our call to action is to give thanks for our freedom sealed by the blood of Jesus.
The freedom of Christ is undeniably the everlasting freedom! Just like the war in that movie it is a battle of Good and Evil the freedom in Christ finishes it!! Love your beautiful example!! No other freedom comes close!!!💜💜💜
