My brain is a busy place. Like most of us, my days are packed from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed. Five children, dogs, chickens, my husband, and a home all need my attention at some point. Those are only the things at the house. In addition, there are other things like grocery shopping, appointments, and play dates.
Are the things that I’m doing wrong? Well, no. Are they uplifting to my lifestyle as a mother, wife, and Christian? Usually, yes. Are they all things that I need to be doing at all times? Probably not. They can become things that cause a disconnect from my Father in Heaven.
When the things that are good for us start to distract us from Him, they are no longer good for us. How do we combat this? I only want to focus on Him and what He wants for my life, but I don’t always know the way.
The Bible tells us, “In the early morning while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there” (Mark 1:35 NASB1995). Jesus also battled busy days that could cause a disconnect from His Father. His days were full of healing, traveling, and ministering. The way that Jesus found to keep His focus was to get up, get alone, and get with God.
As a mom, I can’t necessarily walk out of my house first thing in the morning. I’m responsible for the safety and well-being of little people at that time. I can set my alarm for a time before my children are awake. I can spend time in scripture study and prayer. I can set the focus for my day before anything else has a chance to take my mind from God.
I invite you to schedule time in your day to imitate Jesus, and seclude yourself for prayer and conversation with the your Heavenly Father.

I remember those days and to be honest I use to be kind of flustered with the busyness! You are such a light to your family and God is right there in the middle of all your busyness!! It is so good to realize that God has to be our priority to live the life he wants for us!!â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸
