February 22nd, 2023
We’re into February 2023 and the hoopla is gone. Are you feeling a letdown?
I challenge you! When did you last serve someone else? Christ said the two greatest commandments are: “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’” (Mark 12:30-31a ESV).
It was hard at first! I’d try this ministry or that activity for loving and thereby serving others. I quit several things until I found my niche teaching Pre-k children. I enjoyed teaching them and this joy carried over to the parents. I now have greater relationship bonds with entire families from serving as a teacher. I take pictures for the parents at church events and love sharing them. This is possible because I’m not wrangling my own children or serving as part of the worship team. So, the gifts that God has granted me are used to glorify Him by loving others.
Three years ago, one of these church families adopted me into their home as “Grantie” Karen. I received the great blessing of being a grandma and auntie through serving. Their oldest is six, and I will have the privilege to go to her school on Grandparent’s Day. I never had my own kids, and now I have so many kids to love! (For reference, read Isaiah 54.)
What blessings have you received while serving others?

This made my heart smile today, Karen. I love how God has blessed us with gifts " to glorify Him by loving others"
I am so glad you are willing to serve the young children and their families! God leads us to the right place for us. I am in a program at church where we mentor young women. I have been blessed to pray with and share life with a 27-year-old young woman for the past year. I am always amazed that she wants to spend time with me!
Karin I love that sweet heart of yours as it reflects how much you love your students and their family â¤ï¸ðŸŒ¹ to me that is the true teacher one with compassion...thanks for thoughtfulness in sharing with â¤ï¸.
