Most people would say my love language is the act of service. It brings me joy to do for others. Whether it is making lunch for my son, dinner for the family, or taking my husband his supper in bed because he is so tired after a ten-hour day. My dogs even get served breakfast (egg and green beans).
I think about others in my life a lot. If I care about someone or something, I make it a point to let them know they are important to me. If someone is on my mind, I will call them or send them a scripture or a silly emoji. I really live by the motto that life is short, and we are not promised tomorrow.
I started a card ministry a few years ago due to Covid. I felt I could no longer be at an in-person church, but I still wanted to share God’s love in some way, even if it was from home. I wanted to share the Lord with others, if only in this simple way. I needed to let people know that I cared about them but, most importantly, that God loves them.
I do sometimes wonder if these things I do make a difference in anyone’s life. I wonder if the sentiment means as much to them as it does to me. Then I’ll get “thanks mom, that was good” or a text message from a friend saying how much they loved the card. People need people. I know I sure do. What better way to stay connected than being there for others and sharing faith in God?
What is most important to me though is that whatever I do, it is pleasing to God and for His glory. When I am a thought in someone’s mind, I want to be seen as a light for Christ.
“Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:18 ASV).
Writing for OHSOFREE Ministries has allowed me to connect with other believers in Christ. It has given me an opportunity to be of service. What love language are you? How can you use your love language to honor God?

Beautiful Sarah! I love how you have put your faith into action with the card ministry. My aunt in NC sends me cards weekly with encouragement, it let's me know she thinks of me often. Truly a special gift you have
I had an aunt that sent me things in the mail!! It meant so much to me!! Debbie your such a sweetheart and I hope your doing good!! Here's to Aunts!!💜
I'm thankful because I have been the recipient of one of your cards. I know how encouraging it is to receive one!
It was my pleasure! You are such a beautiful person with such a big heart!!
Thank you for sharing, Sarah. I love it that your love language is acts of service. Mine is quality time. I appreciate people who want to spend time with me, and I will reciprocate and spend time with them. I like it when people give me their attention during an in-person conversation. It irritates me if someone is looking at their phone or looking around the room while I am talking to them. I always try to look people in the eye when I am speaking to them. I am not sure how I can use this to honor God, except to spend time with Him and enjoy His presence in my life.
Giving of your time is a priceless gift. Just to give someone your divided attention is rare and it is a lovely quality!! Jesus was like that!! Bless you!💜
Thank you, Sarah. I love sending cards too and I can tell you they mean a lot. Praying you continue to hear from God and share His love in such a meaningful way.
