Have you ever been overwhelmed with joy about someone?
When you have children, you invest much time teaching them many things. For example, when my husband coached little league baseball, he spent countless hours teaching them the skills needed to be great baseball players. As they grew and began to play for their school, watching them compete and succeed brought him great joy. He knew that his solid teaching at a young age and their dedication would produce the outcome they had hoped for later in life.
In 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20, Paul was filled with joy for the believers that had received Christ in Thessalonica. He was overjoyed to know their faith was steadfast and that he would see them again in heaven. Some Thessalonians rejected the truth and tried to cause dissent, but many grew enthusiastic in their faith. Paul was so overjoyed with their faithfulness in the gospel of Christ.
We can find joy in many things, but finding joy in the people you invest in is such a wonderful feeling. Paul’s feelings of joy towards the people in Thessalonica resulted from his investing in their lives, sharing the gospel of Christ, and seeing them grow in their faith. Seeing his sons grow in dedication to their sport and become great ball players brought my husband joy. Similarly, they grew in their faith through his dedication to Christ and them. What greater joy can a father have for his sons?
Share the gospel of Christ and be filled with joy by the growth you will see in others.

I don't have any children, but for the past few years I have been mentoring a young woman in her twenties. It's a struggle for us to find the time to connect, but when we do it so worth it because it gives me such joy. I hope to show her how much Jesus loves her and hopefully prevent her from making some of the same mistakes I made.
The day my mom passed a lady told me that God doesn't close a door without closing a window. A few weeks later at 35 I found out that I was going to have a baby and another came right after. God gave me the greatest joy I could have known here on earth. I was just telling someone that I adore my kids. I am so grateful of this gift from God. I was also in the pre k field and Sunday school and what a gift like your husband I watched them grow into adult hood and still have a God given bond with them. When you give love it changes everything!!!!!💜💜💜
Such powerful words, Barbara! I think that's what I love about teaching and leading staff. It brings me so much joy to see growth and development. You hit the nail on the head when you shared about Paul. Challenged me to also find this joy as others grow in faith.
I work in children's ministry and it gives me great joy to see the seeds of faith begin to grow in their hearts.
