After our granddaughter, Lyric, started walking, she didn’t stop for about five years. Many times, she ran through our living room with her eyes closed. Scary. One Easter, my sister, Virginia, had to grab Lyric as she darted by so I could snap a picture of her pretty dress.
Steven Curtis Chapman wrote a song about busyness. The lyrics say, “Billy, Billy, Billy, you’re a very busy man, but you’re running with your eyes closed, and you’re missing life all along the way. Do you ever wonder what it’s all about? Oh, you’re so busy, busy.”
Is that how you are living your life? Are you running from one task to another with your eyes closed and not really enjoying life?
I think it’s great that the young women who may be reading this are so involved with their families, church, and perhaps even a career. But I’m nervous for them as well. As the song says, busyness can cause you to miss life all along the way.
Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) says, “those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
As you read this, you may feel that something is missing in your life of busyness. Perhaps you have not found that quiet time to wait on the Lord and renew your strength.
When you schedule time each day to fellowship with the Lord, read His word, and seek His direction, you will find your time is well spent. It is vital to make room for Him and His wisdom. Would you like to share how you make time for Jesus? Has it been difficult at times?

Marge I love the picture of your granddaughter running around the house with her eyes closed! And don't we do that too. Resting in the Lord with a quiet time is a habit just like any other good, healthy habit. The more you do it the easier it gets. Having an accountability partner helps too. I remember long time ago I had an accountability partner in my small group. We checked in with each other every day to see if we read the Bible and had a quiet time each day. Once I got into the habit it's here to stay.
Busy perfectly illustrated Marge, I love the word picture this painted in my mind. I do see myself running now, I pray my eyes are open.
Every day I am trying to keep may focus on thing that start with God and that keep me connected on pleasing him because that if we're my peace lives! It's so much easier since I'm retired! Great post!!!
