In the times we are living, we give gifts frequently. We have Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, and of course, birthdays. It has become such a way of life that some joy has been lost. The pressure of what to get and the anticipation of gifts can be overwhelming. I’ll be honest, I have bought gifts out of obligation. The kind of joy that comes from finding that special gift is getting lost in expectations. The heart in giving is what makes it special. I still love to give, but now I do it, not because I must but because I want to.
No matter how you give, it is essential to do it with “a good heart condition.” God’s word says it perfectly “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (Corinthians 9:7 NIV”). When you give, and it isn’t for the right reason, it doesn’t feel good or pleasing in God’s eyes.
I truly believe that God places in our hearts ways to give. He has us cross paths with people in need all the time. It could be someone grieving that needs the gift of a kind word that could change their sorrow, if only for a moment. It could be the need for monetary assistance or as simple as regifting things you don’t want anymore. The opportunity to share the word as you give will present itself; don’t miss it, for it’s a beautiful thing! One of the gifts I share is my card ministry. Lately, I’ve wanted to reach more people. God placed it on my heart to give cards to a nursing home, so I called one, and I have the go-ahead to share God’s word through birthday cards.
How has God placed it on your heart to give? Do you focus on Christ for opportunities to be a cheerful giver? I assure you that it will bless you as much as it does them because; God is just so good.

Love this!!!
So true, Sarah! I would rather receive a heartfelt gift than one given out of obligation. So would God! Thank you for your card ministry. I know you bless many with it.
