Do you find yourself so busy that you feel like you can’t get everything done? Are you really that busy?
This weekend I am letting myself relax and slow things down. Even if it’s just a few days, I know that giving myself time and space will re-energize me, both physically and mentally.
Many times, a typical response from people, including myself, is, “I’m too busy.” I think that it’s become a part of everyday language. But when I stop and look at my schedule, I’m not as busy as I think I am.
The age of social media has made us think we are so busy that we have no time to live in the real world. The busyness often is in our minds and reveals itself in anxiousness towards the real world.
Don’t get me wrong, we can all have a full schedule of things to do, but what I’m talking about is busyness. The busyness in our minds, of thinking or worrying about things that have happened in the past or things that will happen in the future. This type of busyness is unproductive and only brings fatigue and anxiety.
“It is in vain that you rise up early
and go late to rest,
eating the bread of anxious toil;
for he gives to his beloved sleep” (Psalm 127:2 ESV).
Take time for yourself and unplug from social media and the bread of anxiousness. Write down your schedule and eliminate what you can from your life. Most of all, change your anxious thoughts of feeling like you’re too busy to live and enjoy God’s blessings! Time will pass you by quickly!

Thank you, Barbara, for this word. I, too, have uttered those words: "I'm too busy." I have noticed I use it as an excuse to do essential things that would be good for my soul. Yet, I always have a choice. My schedule is as full as I choose it to be. I am the one who says "yes" and fills the spaces that could be left clear for rest, time with God, silence, and solitude. I know I would be less rushed and anxious if I did! I appreciate the reminder today.
Barbara, very good word! We may be too busy, but i find that i tend to make time for what i want to do! I make God the priority!
