Freely Speaking with Andi

What is God’s calling for your life? Does that question bring fear or confusion to you at times? As Christians, we want to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord and use our gifts to serve Him in the way He designed for us.

I decided to follow Jesus early in life and strived to stay tuned in to the Lord and hear what He was speaking over me in those formative years.  One summer, I heard God’s voice calling me to ministry at church camp.  Although I was overjoyed that He wanted me to commit my life to Him, it also scared me and led to some confusion.

I didn’t know the specifics of what God was asking me to do, and it caused me to be fearful. Where would He send me? What would He ask me to do? What would I have to sacrifice to follow Him?  After praying, searching God’s word, and counseling with a trusted leader, I learned that all God wanted from me was to say YES to Him and TRUST Him. I was reminded that His plans for me were good, and I didn’t have to see the whole picture of what was in store to answer His call.

In The Bible, God tells us very specifically, ‘“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV).  This promise has been true for me.

Over the years of serving in ministry, God’s calling for me has evolved and changed as my life and experiences have changed. Each lesson learned equipped me for His next assignment of service. Through it all, He has never forsaken me and continues to prosper me as I choose to follow where He leads.

How has God called you? How can you trust Him to equip you to serve where He leads you? Ask the Lord to lead and guide you as you pursue Him and trust His purpose for your life.
