Have you ever been through a rough patch and needed some encouraging words? Have you ever felt depressed and desired the right words to bring you joy? Has there been a time that you felt hopeless and needed words to revive your spirit?
You are not alone! The disciples on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24:13–32 felt similar feelings after the death of Jesus. They had expected Jesus to redeem Israel. Instead, Jesus was crucified! Can you imagine their disappointment?
However, the risen Jesus came and shared the word of God with them, “They asked each other, 'Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?'" (Luke 24:32 NIV). The word Jesus shared caused their hearts to burn, and the Word still has the same effect on us.
There’s something about the power of the Word of God! It can cause us to still have joy in the midst of our darkest hour. Let us share our testimonies with one another. Have you ever experienced a dark time, yet the Word of God brought you joy that isn’t easily described or understood?
I pray today that regardless of what you are going through or faced with, Jesus, through His word, will bring you joy!

Thank you Shayla for reinforcing how important it is to not just read God's word but to study it, memorize it, and keep it close at all times. It is how God speaks to us!
